red-winged blackbirds are my favorite birds; i hope the city dwellers realize what's going on and leave them alone. we have them all over the sides of our rural roads here in iowa. their red shoulder badges make them look like little admirals going about their business, and their call is pretty dang cool:
apparently black birds are attacking chicago residents. yikes. click on the pic to be taken to the article. if you're in chicago wear a helmet :)
